As much as we love to showcase the rare disease films on our streaming channel The Disorder Channel, or by screening them at conferences or at our film festival, you can’t beat the star power of a major Hollywood production. And so when we find one that touches on a rare disease we do our best to make it known.
Below are several reviews we’ve written on Hollywood films that address life with a rare disease.
The Saint of Second Chances (Batten) and One Shot to Live
Knox Goes Away (CJD) and One in a Million
Madame Web (Myasthenia Gravis) and The Magic Bracelet (Mito)
The Old Guard (ALS) and My Turn (ALS)
The Favourite - Queen Anne likely had Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), or Hughes syndrome
7 Movies you didn't know were about Rare diseases, and 5 you probably did.
Midnight Sun - (XP, xeroderma pigmentosum)
Unbreakable, Split and Glass - a rare disease superhero trilogy
Arrival - an unnamed “very rare disease”
